What our clients say about us.

  • I’ve been working with Jen since 2012 and hope to work with her for decades to come. When I first started working with her, I was coming off working with a trainer who was focused on building muscle and didn’t really take into account my personal situation, which included injuries and surgery resulting from several accidents as well as very flat feet and postural issues. Jen met me exactly where I was and modified exercises as needed to target muscles that needed strengthening and lighten the load on muscles that were overworked. I now have a set of exercises that I continue to do regularly at home, and thanks to Jen’s very effective teaching methods, I’m confident that I’m using good form.

As if those benefits weren’t enough, Jen also introduced me to Pilates, which I absolutely love. I started with private sessions and small-group classes and then bought two pieces of equipment for my home. I continue to do private sessions to keep expanding my library of exercises, which keeps me interested (and moving). Another great benefit of working with Jen is physical therapy sessions as needed when I have particular challenges. I have every confidence that Jen deeply considers how to help me be as healthy, strong, and active as I can be and even recover functionality I’d thought I’d lost. Thank you, Jen — I’m eternally grateful!

  • Sore feet? Go to Dr. Jennifer Comer before the pediatrist or orthopedist! Why? Often, exercise and manipulation are much better and longer lasting than medicine or surgery. As one who has had multiple cortisone shots for Morton’s neuromas, I can attest to the benefits of the simple foot exercises and stretches taught by Dr. Jen Comer. Thanks to the exercises Jen taught me, I have been able to avoid surgery and additional cortisone shots (which mess with my diabetic glucose levels for weeks).

My first encounter with Dr. Jen Comer was at one of her “Favor Your Feet” classes. Her background and practical knowledge as a Doctor of Physical Therapy were immediately apparent as she provided an instructional introduction to foot anatomy, foot issues, symptomatic foot issues of ailments elsewhere, and appropriate footwear. Class members were then taught a series of exercises and received individual coaching where needed. With the summary sheet in hand, I began exercising my feet on my own. My narrow, arthritic, high (but falling) arched feet with Morton’s neuroma’s started feeling better, and my balance started to improve within a short time.

Fast-forward about 18 months, I started to experience sharp, disabling pain at the arch of my left foot, which was often followed by pain at the side of my leg near the calf. Jen identified exercises and stretches for my feet and hips that have me back to walking roughly four miles, four to five days per week. Yes, I said hips. Thanks to Pilate’s Towel Classes (and others) with Jen, we have identified hip tightness that may be affecting my walking stride. Jen’s whole-body approach has helped me with multiple aches, pains, and balance issues. I highly recommend Dr. Comer for foot issues as well as the breadth of offerings at Align & Define, LLC.

  • Jennifer is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Experienced, knowledgeable, and prepared, she approaches each class with freshness and delight. She is also flexible, adapting her plans to suit wherever students happen to be on that day. Though we range in Pilate’s experience, as well as in physical challenges, she manages to address each of our needs while maintaining a group coherence. A generation younger than many, she meets each of us with relatedness and compassion, making students feel welcome, special, and understood. She reminds me of a popular college teacher I once had who always had a line of people waiting to privately see her during office hours. Everybody wants to be her friend.

Personally, I feel I was led to her. Entering her studio, I leave my troubles outside the door and leaving 50 minutes later, I am physically and spiritedly renewed to continue on with my day. I am grateful beyond words.
